04:27 AM EDT, 05/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly (LLY) said Monday its experimental gene-editing therapy, VERVE-102, reduced LDL cholesterol and PCSK9 protein levels in a phase 1 study involving adults with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or premature coronary artery disease.
The drug maker said a single dose of VERVE-102 produced dose-dependent reductions in PCSK9 levels ranging from 51% to 88%, while LDL cholesterol fell between 9% and 62% across tested dose levels in a interim analysis.

The effects lasted up to 18 months after treatment, the company said.
Lilly said it plans to begin a phase 2 study of VERVE-102 by the end of the year.
